The Grundtvig programme focuses on the promotion of educational opportunities available for adults leaving school without obtaining basic qualifications or who just feel enthusiasm for further improving themselves.
Supported actions and project types are:
| Mobility of individuals (adult learners and education staff) in the form of visits, placements, assistantships, exchanges for participants in formal and non-formal adult education. The minimum duration for adult learners is one week and the maximum is one month. In the case of staff mobility the average duration is expected to be just over 2 weeks but the mobility periods can last up to 1 year. |
| “European Assistantships”, as a new action, was established to provide young adult educators with the possibility to take part in assistantships in another European countryto help develop the host institution's European dimension, and to contribute to the assistant's professional development. Minimum duration: 3 months, maximum: 1 year. |
Learning partnerships – the most significant aim of the action is to support collaboration initiatives between organisations located in different European countries active in the field of adult education. It enables joint meetings, exchange of staff and learners, cultural events and it pays attention to ICT-related areas. Project duration is between 1-3 years. |
The target group of the Grundtvig programme includes learners and learning providers in adult education, teaching and administrative staff active in the field of adult education; associations and representatives; bodies specialised in information services, consultation, and guidance; enterprises, non-profit organizations, higher education institutions, bodies; and persons responsible for the maintenance of systems and policies concerning adult education, either at local, regional or national level.
